Wellingborough Amateur Boxing Club is proud to launch Box Champions — a transformational 12-week programme designed to support young people who need structure, guidance and positive role models.

For over 40 years, Wellingborough ABC has been more than just a boxing club. We have been a safe space, a second home, and a lifeline for countless young people across our town. Today, as challenges facing the younger generation continue to grow, our mission has evolved.

Box Champions is our commitment to helping young people build confidence, discipline, and direction — both in and out of the ring.

What Is Box Champions?

Box Champions is a 12-week boxing and mentoring programme for young people aged 10–18 who may be:

  • Struggling at school
  • At risk of exclusion
  • Involved in anti-social behaviour
  • Vulnerable to negative peer groups
  • Battling anger, anxiety or low confidence
  • Lacking routine, structure or safe places
  • In need of trusted adults and positive influence
  • Or simply needing somewhere to belong

The programme combines the discipline of boxing with the emotional support of mentoring. Each weekly session is designed to build physical fitness, emotional resilience, and healthy decision-making.

Our approach is rooted in the message:
“We don’t just build fighters — we build people.”

Why Boxing?

Boxing has always been a powerful tool for change.

It gives young people:

  • A sense of identity
  • Clear boundaries and discipline
  • A constructive outlet for stress and frustration
  • A team around them who genuinely care
  • A space where their past does not define them
  • Confidence through achievement
  • Structure and routine
  • A reason to show up

For many, the boxing gym becomes the first environment where they feel safe, understood, and supported.

Real Change Begins With Opportunity

Every young person has potential.
Every young person deserves a chance.
Sometimes all they need is the right environment — people who believe in them, structure they can trust, and a challenge that lifts them up rather than pushes them down.

That’s what Box Champions provides.

We’re not here to judge.
We’re here to guide, support, and help young people rewrite their story.
