Wellingborough ABC saw an exciting debut this weekend as Jae stepped through the ropes for his very first skills bout — and what a start it was.

Matched against a strong Northampton opponent who brought plenty of vocal support, Jae showed composure well beyond his experience. From the opening bell, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a light introduction to the ring. The referee allowed the contest to flow, and at times it felt more like a competitive bout than a controlled skills contest.

But Jae didn’t take a backward step.

He matched his opponent for strength, refused to be bullied, and produced some really clean, tidy boxing throughout. His footwork, shot selection and willingness to engage showed that the hard work in the gym is already paying off.

Most importantly, he gained something invaluable — experience. Skills bouts are about development, learning under pressure and building confidence in a live environment. Jae ticked all three boxes.

There are always lessons to take away from a first outing, and that’s exactly what makes nights like this so important. This is just the beginning of his journey, and if this performance is anything to go by, there’s plenty more to come.

A brilliant start. Proud of you, Jae 👏🥊
