At Wellingborough Amateur Boxing Club, we know that development doesn’t stop at our own doors. Getting out, mixing with different clubs, and facing new styles is a crucial part of a boxer’s journey.
Today, our boxers travelled to Leicester Lightning Boxing Club for a well-run sparring day, and it proved to be a brilliant experience for everyone involved.
From the first bell, the rounds were competitive, controlled, and full of learning. Our boxers showed great attitude throughout the day — listening well, staying disciplined, and applying the work they’ve been putting in during training. Sessions like this are invaluable for building ring IQ, confidence, and composure under pressure.
What stood out most was the respect shown by all clubs involved. Sparring days like these aren’t about winning — they’re about learning, testing yourself, and coming away better than you arrived. Our boxers did exactly that.
A big thank you to Leicester Lightning Boxing Club for the invitation and for hosting a smooth, well-organised session. These opportunities are what grassroots boxing is all about — clubs supporting one another to help young athletes develop the right way.
We now take what we’ve learned back into the gym as we continue to build towards the next stage of the season. Plenty of positives to take away, and plenty to keep working on.
Well done to everyone who represented the club today — proud of the effort, attitude, and progress on display.
